This half-term, step into a world of colour, imagination, and hands-on creation at Ultimate Art! Hosted in the inspiring, modern facilities of Headington Rye Oxford School, our brand-new 3-day holiday programme is tailor-made for young creatives aged 8–14 years.

Whether your child is a budding Picasso or just loves to get their hands messy, our programme offers a warm, fun, and highly supportive environment. Led by passionate art educators, we focus on self-expression, friendship, and exploring a diverse range of artistic disciplines.

What art activities will they be doing?

Day One🪴: A Bold Bright World (Artist Focus: Yayoi Kusama)

Inspiration: Discover the vibrant, dot-filled world of iconic contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama.

Mediums: Clay sculpture, painting, drawing, printing, and collage.

Activities:

  • Introduction to Kusama's life and signature style.
  • Designing and printing Polka Dot Pumpkin Artworks.
  • Painting Pop-Art Eye Mini Canvases.
  • Sculpting Clay Flowers (left to set and painted on Day 3!).
  • Creating 3D Potted Paper Flowers using paper sculpture and drawing.

📦 Take-Home Projects: Pop-art eye mini canvases, collaged & printed pumpkin art, potted paper flower sculptures, and clay flowers (collected Day 3).

Day Two🦊: Folk Art – A World of Animals (Focus: Traditional Folk Art)

Inspiration: Dive into classic, decorative folk art patterns and animal storytelling.

Mediums: Textiles, hand-sewing, block printing, drawing, and acrylic painting.

Activities:

  • Introduction to folk art patterns and animal motifs.
  • Painting base colors for free-standing Fox Artworks and bird designs.
  • Crafting Stitched & Embellished Butterflies inside embroidery hoops.
  • Adding fine-line drawings onto wooden bird hangers.
  • Designing custom block prints to create Folk Animal Art Prints.

📦 Take-Home Projects: Bird hangers, stitched & embellished butterfly embroidery hoops, folk animal prints, and painted free-standing fox artwork.

Day Three🎨: Playing with Colour & Shape (Artist Focus: Wassily Kandinsky)

Inspiration: Explore abstract expressionism, bold geometries, and color theory inspired by Wassily Kandinsky.

Mediums: Paint, drawing, fabric collage, and clay finishing.

Activities:

  • Painting and finishing the Clay Flowers from Day 1.
  • Introduction to Kandinsky’s abstract color and shape theories.
  • Painting base colors on custom picture frames.
  • Designing and painting Abstract Stretched Canvases.
  • Creating custom Kandinsky Fabric Tote Bags using fabric collage and drawing.
  • Assembling Abstract Collage Picture Frames.

📦 Take-Home Projects: Abstract canvases, custom tote bags, abstract picture frames, and finished clay flowers!

Who is this camp for?

Ultimate Art is the perfect camp for children aged 8-14 years who love to be creative, enjoy getting stuck into artistic activities, or who are just looking to try something new. 

What do they need to bring?

  • Children will need a refillable water bottle, as well as a healthy and nutritious lunch and mid-morning and afternoon snacks to keep them going through the day. Please be aware that children on Camp may have nut allergies – please avoid nuts and nut products in your child’s packed lunch. Here's some healthy lunch box ideas from Change4Life!
  • Please ensure your child is dressed in scruffy clothes which may come home with paint or other art materials on - we will provide an apron for children too.

What shouldn't my child bring?

  • Swim kit is not required as swimming is not part of the Ultimate Art programme
  • Money is not required on Camp except for the optional £1 for taking part in our fundraising activity for Young Minds.
  • Please do not bring portable electronic devices (e.g. Mobile Phones, iPods, Nintendo DS etc). They will not be needed on Camp and we cannot be held responsible for anything going missing or being damaged.

What are the hours?

Standard drop off window: 8.30-9.30am

Standard pick up window: 4.30-5.15pm

Extended Day Pass available: 8am-6pm (additonal charge of £9.30). Children will participate in our multi-activity camp, featuring camp games and activities in the hall during these times.

Is lunch included?

No, lunch is not included. Who are the instructors?

Our Ultimate Art programme is specially crafted by an experienced art teacher and successful artist and creator to provide engaging and inspiring creations, that are suitable for all ages and abilities. Our Ultimate Art instructors are chosen for their experience, qualifications, attitude and passion for working with children. 

All of our staff are selected through a rigorous recruitment process. We conduct Enhanced DBS checks and references on all our staff, and they are all put through our Ultimate training programme. All this means you can be confident that your child is in the best possible hands.

How and when do I pay?

We accept credit/debit cards, Tax Free Childcare and childcare vouchers. For your security we use '3D Secure' for online card payments. If you book during an offer, we require full payment at the time of booking. If paying with Tax Free Childcare or childcare vouchers, the payment needs to clear in our bank account before the end of the offers. (See below for more on childcare vouchers).
